Rodale is seeking a Senior or Executive Editor to work in our editorial department in our New York City location. This editor will build upon Rodale’s already strong foundation creating books and products in the health and wellness space. He/she will be responsible for acquiring and editing a full list of non-fiction titles—including wellness, self help, and narrative—that will make a strong impact in the marketplace. Working relationships with major agents and a strong knowledge of the above categories are both essential.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 8 to 10 years of publishing experience that demonstrates increasing editorial responsibility.
- Strong acquisitions, proven sales record, keen understanding of the marketplace, and innovative product development skills.
- Excellent writing and verbal communications skills and strong knowledge of social media, blogs, and conferences.
- The ability to take overall responsibility for concept, content, and author relationships including: seeing new titles through all stages of editing; managing schedules; collaborating with design and production.
- Bachelor’s degree
