Abrams is in search a Senior Production Manger to handle all aspects of book production for the Abrams Books for Young Readers, Appleseed, Amulet and ComicArts imprints, as well as Abrams Plus. Projects include: 1-color novels; 4-color picture books; graphic novels; and novelty formats, including pop-up books, touch and feels, flap books, and calendars. Candidate must be energetic, have strong attention for detail, and be a proactive problem solver, who is able to multi-task across a variety of assignments.


  • Handle all elements of production from files to finished product with the goal of delivering projects on time and on budget. Tasks include, but are not limited to:
    • Project planning for approximately 20-25 titles per list (2 lists per year)
    • Estimating
    • Trafficking of materials
    • Color correction
    • Ensuring quality of product and schedule integrity in support of Abrams
    • Creating and maintaining purchase orders
    • Data entry in TMM
    • Managing compliance paperwork - safety testing, vendor approvals, NDA’s, licensor agreements, etc., as needed
    • Help in assisting with ongoing improvements to communication, workflow, and overall process
    • Manage co-editions, drop shipments and custom publishing as needed
    • Support manager as needed

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have 8 - 12 years of experience in publishing production, with strong understanding of children’s novelty formats. Specific experience with managing the production of licensed product a plus.
  • Experience with inventory and operations to ensure timely delivery of product
  • Extensive experience working with both domestic and foreign suppliers
  • Knowledge of safety testing requirements for children’s product
  • Experience with color correction
  • Must be organized, detail oriented, have a flexible mind set and be able to multi-task
  • Computer literate, with strong knowledge of Excel and Word
  • Familiarity with Firebrand/Quality Solutions Systems and InSite a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
