Trade Sales Manager

Summary: Oversee independent bookstore and wholesaler business through management of commission sales rep groups, including management of Canadian sales force. You will oversee the NYC Sales Representative and Sales Assistant.


Responsibilities:

United States

-Act as internal voice and representative for independent bookstores

-Supervise the efforts of 4 commission groups, 25 reps in total

-Organize and coordinate commission rep conference twice yearly

-Participate in business meetings with key independent customers and members of the ABA

-Create and prepare sales analysis to maximize sales in the independent channel

-Direct cooperative advertising plans with wholesale and retail accounts

-Oversee, coordinate and participate in regional trade shows

-Attend Winter Institute, Children’s Institute and BEA


Canada

-Oversee Canadian business through all sales channels, including national retailers, mass market, independents, and museums

-Supervise the efforts of the Canadian sales force, 20 reps total

-Serve as a liaison between Canadian sales group and Abrams

-Monitor sales, inventory, and pricing

-Manage Canadian co-op marketing pool

-Approve all incremental co-op

-New title presentation to Canadian Sales Conference twice yearly


Qualifications:

-Bachelor’s degree 

-5 years of sales experience within the publishing industry on the sales side

-Excellent communication skills and ease of presenting sales information and titles to large groups

-Very organized with ability to respond to large number of emails and requests daily

-Excel experience – both data entry and spreadsheet formulation

-Travel required to 4 – 5 events per year
