Pomegranate Communications is seeking an experienced, driven individual to manage and direct its marketing efforts across all mediums and channels, targeting existing and new markets.

Pomegranate Communications is a leading publisher of fine art and contemporary illustration in a vast array of high-quality, affordable publications, including books and paper goods such as calendars, puzzles, and children's products.

The person selected for this position will plan for and implement Pomegranate’s marketing and communications strategies across all channels such as websites, email, social media, newsletters, catalogs, and trade show presentations.

The ideal candidates will have a passion for the arts and literature. They will be technically savvy and will have experience developing and implementing marketing strategies. They will have excellent writing skills and experience writing copy for marketing efforts.

The Marketing Director will help to further innovate Pomegranate’s marketing and communication efforts and will assume a hands-on role with creating content, implementing campaigns, outreach, creating reports, performing data analytics, and working tradeshows and company events. 

This person will work onsite at the company’s head offices in Portland, Oregon. 

Essential Functions

Promote Pomegranate’s brand—internally and externally across mediums—to elevate the

company’s national and international profile.

Direct audience acquisition efforts.

Develop, implement, and oversee Pomegranate’s marketing and communication strategies across all channels such as websites, email, social media, newsletters, catalogs, and trade show presentations.

Manage all publicity and media relations to secure sell-in and sell-through of titles.

Ensure that marketing efforts are cost effective and achieve set goals.

Manage search engine optimization for product and content.

Partner with the sales team to successfully achieve annual revenue targets and new business development objectives.

Oversee the customer online sales experience on Pomegranate and third-party websites.

Ensure Pomegranate’s brand is displayed and communicated consistently in all marketing channels including but not limited to trade shows, conferences, and publicity events.

Manage the employees of the marketing and publicity department and take responsibility for the performance, management, and hiring of the employees within that department.


In-depth knowledge of the principles of digital marketing, branding, and identity design.

Communication proficiency, both verbal and written.

People management skills.

Presentation skills.

Critical thinking skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, HTML, CRM (Netsuite), Adobe Creative Suite.

Advanced data management skills using applications such as spreadsheets, flat file databases, and relational databases.

In-depth knowledge of online marketing and advertising services such as email campaign services, online advertising services, and surveying services.

In-depth knowledge of online analytics services such as Google Analytics.

Ability to quickly adapt and learn new software applications as needed.


Approximately 10% overnight travel
