Events Coordinator

Trident Booksellers & Cafe is looking for a full-time events coordinator. The Trident has been independently owned and operated since 1984, and is among the last independent bookstores in Boston. In March 2018, the store had a fire that temporarily closed it for several months. Our new events coordinator would be part of the grand reopening, including a reopening party and amplified events program.

The Trident has always been known as an eclectic Boston staple, with an independent and authentic feel. We use our events as a way to engage our community and raise our public profile. We’re looking for someone who is able to grow our events program, and continue our mission of providing an open and spirited place to gather. The ideal candidate is an energetic, creative, and enthusiastic person who is able to self-direct.

Responsibilities include:

  • Booking and managing events in store, including author events, trivia, parties, and other creative gatherings

  • Filling our events calendar so that each of our two events spaces are booked most nights

  • Coordinating outreach and public relations with local and national media for event and store promotion

  • Building relationships with publicists, sales reps, and other publishing representatives to enhance our author events

  • Creating of marketing materials for event publicity

  • Posting and maintaining event information on the Trident website

  • Creating social media campaigns for both the store in general and specific event promotion

  • Coordinating private buyouts of cafe space

Skills we expect:

  • Excellent communication skills and confidence in publicly representing Trident Booksellers & Cafe

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills

  • Love of reading and books!

  • Experience with event coordinating and/or publicity
