Position: Full-Time

Countryman Press, a subsidiary of W.W. Norton & Company, is seeking an energetic, ambitious publicist/marketer to develop and execute promotional plans for books in the areas of cooking, lifestyle, travel, how-to, and more. This positions reports to the VP Editorial Director of Countryman Press.

Essential Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop and execute marketing and publicity plans and strategies for the Countryman. list, with input from the editorial and sales teams.
  • Determine and coordinate the sales tools needed for a successful marketing campaign.
  • Run campaigns across print, web, email, and social media.
  • Provide feedback on publicity and marketing opportunities for proposed books.
  • Managing publicity and marketing across departments, activities, and projects.
  • Liaison with the trade sales team.
  • The right candidate will have the opportunity to grow the position to a leadership role, making presentations at meetings and sales conferences.

Required Qualifications:

  • Employment eligibility to work with W. W. Norton & Company in the US is required.
    • 2 to 5 years of relevant experience, ideally publicity.
    • Excellent writing, analytical, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
    • Evidence of initiative-taking and ability to contribute new ideas.
    • Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint and Excel. 
    • Interest in and familiarity with social media.
    • Excellent time-management skills, detail-oriented and accurate in all areas..
    • Must be able to work full business hours from Norton’s New York City headquarters.
    • Bachelor's degree.
    • Proactive, flexible and adaptive, with a “can-do” approach in a rapidly changing environment.
    • Employment eligibility to work with W. W. Norton & Company in the US is required.
