Position: Full-Time is looking for an experienced Director of Operations to organize and oversee the daily operations of our company. This is a hands-on position that will require both strategic thinking, organizational development, and detail-oriented administrative work. We are a small team in a fast-growing startup environment, and we need an experienced business generalist to handle the wide-ranging needs of the company.

This is a senior management role responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the company, including payroll, bookkeeping including AP and AR, insurance, sales tax, legal, vendor relationships, HR, overseeing financial transactions and vendor invoices for accuracy, and reviewing and implementing efficient best practices for all aspects of the business. The ideal candidate will also help to shape our work environment, contribute to our business strategy, and build our organization. This position works closely with the CEO, and reports directly to him.

  • Work with CEO to set strategic goals

  • Plan, execute and monitor the day-to-day operation of the business, including payroll, AR, AP, legal, tax, and insurance

  • Review financial information, manage operational budgets, and optimize expenses

  • Manage relationships/agreements with external partners/vendors

  • Evaluate overall performance by gathering, analyzing and interpreting data and metrics

  • Ensure that the company adheres to all legal and regulatory requirements

  • Help set strategy and goals for growth

  • Help set company policies and processes

  • Direct the employee assessment process

  • Provide solutions to business issues (e.g. maintaining customer satisfaction, mediating employee conflicts, ensuring continued growth and profitability)

  • Managing operational costs


  • Proven experience as Director of Operations, General Manager or equivalent position

  • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities

  • Outstanding communication and people skills

  • Knowledge of the publishing and bookselling industry

  • Experience in eCommerce 

  • Knowledge of affiliate marketing market, strategies, and legal requirements

  • Knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles

  • Knowledge of HR rules and requirements

  • Ability to analyze data, including financial data, google analytics, and other transactional data to gauge the health of the company and recommend strategic directions

  • Familiarity with GSuite, MS Office, Google Analytics, ADP, Stripe, and Quickbooks

  • Strong analytical ability and aptitude for problem-solving
