Position: Full-Time

We are seeking a Special Markets Manager to join our North American sales team and contribute to our steady trade-business growth. The successful candidate will expand our customer reach, revenue, and retention across multiple market channels while nurturing our existing account base. The Special Markets Manager must possess excellent prospecting and relationship skills, strong organizational and communication skills, and a proven track record in publishing or retail. He or she is highly creative, data-driven, and passionate about the future of book sales.

Key Objectives

  • Work closely with the North American Sales Director to identify leads and cultivate national-scale business outside traditional book sales channels, including specialty retail and DTC/e-commerce partners
  • Work with global sales, marketing, PR, and e-commerce teams to build out profitable partnerships
  • Exceed sales goals via strategic management of non-traditional retail accounts in New York City and environs
  • Manage relationships with select commission groups toward specific growth goals


Skills and Experience Required

  • 3-5 years working in sales in a publishing environment – retail experience also considered
  • Ability to customize pitches based on audience and objectives – and to effectively track leads and forecast results
  • Experience with Excel is essential; experience with Edelweiss and/or InDesign a plus
  • Experience with analytical tools such as NPD and BN Bookscan
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms and other data tools a plus
