Regional Account Manager - South

Position: Full-Time, Remote

Schiffer Publishing is looking for an energetic, self-motivated and internally driven Regional Account Manager (RAM) to sell each of our imprints in the southern states within the Specialty/Gift market.

The Regional Account Manager is responsible for selling a curated list of frontlist and backlist titles to niche retailers (physical, online and mail order) in their assigned territory. The RAM is responsible for managing and growing current accounts, prospecting for and opening new accounts thru old fashioned hand selling, email, cold calling, and in-person and web conferencing presentations.

The Regional Account Manager is responsible for selling into museum shops, home/interior design retailers, apparel retailers, tourist centers, toy/kids stores, teacher supply, general-interest gift stores and other independent non-book retailers within their territory including but not limited to:

  • REDFeather: metaphysical stores,  yoga studios, candle retailers, crystal/gem retailers, tarot shops, holistic/wellness center, alternative Spiritual and Wicca communities
  • Craft: independent quilting, weaving, art supply, ceramic/pottery shops, glass art studios, leather supply retailers and woodworking retailers and the distributors/wholesalers (excluding West Broadway) that service these retailers. This position is also responsible for selling to the professional crafter through the regional and national craft associations and guilds, craft schools and craft museums.
  • Schiffer Publishing: tattoo shops, video game/arcade shops, flower/floral shops, travel centers, horology/watch retailers, pet shops, photography schools, architecture schools, antique shops and more.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Develop account base to meet quarterly and annual sales targets by imprint
  • Ability to cold call accounts and generate business from the ground up.
  • Develop and maintain existing customers by presenting both frontlist and backlist titles on a regular basis.
  • Attend and/or exhibit at local trade shows and conferences targeting these niche communities.
  • Attend and participate in Schiffer’s title planning; including imprint meetings and sales conference
  • Maintain full and complete information on accounts and leads in the designated CRM program, including contact information and correspondence
  • Responding to inquiries from both internal and external contacts within 48 hours
  • Must be willing and able to travel (50% of time) and perform physical aspects of job
  • Additional duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years sales experience in book publishing and interest in the subjects required.
  • Familiarity with the illustrated book market.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or similar major
  • Must be extremely organized, detail-oriented, and have superior verbal, written and in-person/virtual presentation skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Edelweiss and NPD Bookscan
  • Completion of Predictive Index Assessment
  • Will consider a fully remote candidate but local candidate preferred
  • Salary dependent on experience
