Position: Full-Time, Hybrid
Chronicle Books is looking for a Publicity Assistant to support the publicity activities of our publishing program. They will assist with media communication, research, and reporting, and they will attend regular team meetings while providing general support to the Associate Director of Publicity and four Publicists.
The person in this role will respond to requests and inquiries, submit titles for book trade announcements, respond to all media calls for information, and manage new hire and promotion announcements to the publishing trade media. They will help write press materials, and they will work openly and supportively with colleagues in Marketing, Publicity, Sales, and Brand. In addition, The Publicity Assistant will discover new media outlets and opportunities, prepare for author events, assist with Salesforce data entry/reporting, and create digital media kits as needed.
Applicants will need one to two years’ professional office experience, strong copywriting/communication skills, and familiarity with Microsoft 365 services (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, etc.). Experience with Adobe Pro, Photoshop, Muck Rack, and Salesforce is a plus, and previous publishing or media experience is a bonus as well. We need someone who is detail-oriented, self-directed, proactive, and resourceful with an interest in books, media, design, and/or sales.
