Full casting has been made for the upcoming North American premiere of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button musical, based on F. Scott Fitzgerald's 1922 short story, Playbill reported. It will play at Off-Broadway's Public Theater October 8-November 15 in the Newman Theater. Opening night is October 21.
The production will feature an ensemble cast of actor-musicians, led by Andrew Durand (Dead Outlaw) as Benjamin Button and Reverthi, and Kelsee Kimmel as Elowen Keene and Sterenow, with Britney Coleman as Gwyns, Trevor Lindley Craft as Morlan, Brandon J. Ellis as Tewes, Katie Horner as Treth, Sachiko Mae as Avoryow, Morgan Morse as Tonnow, Kris Saint-Louis as Lanow, Claire-Frances Sullivan as Ebron, and Matt Wolpe as Tir. Swings Jo Brook, Casey Martin Klein, Lauren Jeanne Thomas, and Spiff Wiegand will round out the company.
The musical adaptation, featuring a book by Jethro Compton, music by Darren Clark, and lyrics by Clark and Compton, began at London's Southwark Playhouse in 2019, returning in an expanded form that transferred to the Ambassadors Theatre in the West End in 2024, Playbill noted. The show won Best New Musical at the 2025 Olivier Awards. Compton will again direct and provide scenic design for the North American premiere, and has re-assembled the original London creative team for the U.S. production.
