Thank You Books in Birmingham, Ala., which announced plans last fall to expand and potentially double its floor space at 5502 Crestwood Blvd., hosted a grand reopening celebration on August 1.
In an Instagram post, the bookstore noted: "No words except: we love each other, we love books, we love you, and we love @morgansowards, whose vision and care helped bring this new chapter of Thank You Books to life. We worked really hard, and today felt like a miracle. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!! And if you're new here, looking for where you belong: we've got you."
Elizabeth Goodrich, co-owner of the shop with Kristen Iskandrian, told Bham Now the expansion will "give us lots more sales floor space, including an expanded children's section that we're really excited about. It also gives us a lot more back-of-house space, which will help with events and off-site things....
"It's just very fulfilling to see that a dream we've had for a long time meets a need that other people experience. This will give us a lot more space to do more of what we've been doing and to continue to dream about what's possible in Birmingham."
