The winner of the 2026 Book Publishers Representatives of New England Handseller of the Year Award goes to Cristina Iannarino of Books on the Square, Providence, R.I.
BPRNE wrote: "Cristina is the resident manager of an expanded, more adventurous kids department at Books on the Square. It is a fun section, with a lot of parent support; and it is much livelier than ever. She is also a whiz at selling kids books. Her knowledge of the children's section is outstanding, but what she is especially strong at, is in getting the right book in the hands of the customer. Not an easy or simple task when one is dealing with children's books. When it comes to hand selling a favorite book of hers, nobody can match her energy and enthusiasm for that special book. And no one can rival Cristina for her outgoing nature, friendliness, and positivity. It’s a joy to watch her work and a joy to work with her."
Iannarino will receive the award at next week's NEIBA Fall Conference Awards Banquet, on September 16, in Newton, Mass.
