On Sunday at 8 p.m., PBS begins airing The Vietnam War, Ken Burns and Lynn Novick's 18-hour documentary whose 10 episodes will run over the next two weeks. The companion book, The Vietnam War: An Intimate History by Burns and Geoffrey C. Ward, was published by Knopf ($60, 9780307700254) on September 5.
