Shelf Awareness is a media company that provides vital daily news and information to the book trade, influential reviews to book lovers, and custom content and marketing solutions for independent bookstores, publishers, associations, authors, and studios.  We are a dedicated team of book nerds who love indie bookstores and know how vital they are to our bookverse and to their communities. Through our e-newsletter publications, we connect our industry, help indies sell books, and foster a greater appreciation for the essential role independent bookstores have in amplifying voices,  ideas and the art of storytelling.  

The Senior Marketing Manager will oversee audience growth, subscriber retention, and brand strategy with a focus on deepening and expanding our relationship with booksellers, publishing trade, and book lovers everywhere. The Senior Marketing Manager will report to the Publisher.

The Senior Marketing Manager will:

  • Devise, manage and execute the marketing plan to achieve our business goals.  
  • Increase subscriber growth, engagement, and retention for our highly-regarded e-newsletters.
  • Discover new ways to amplify our premium content through strategic partnerships.
  • Create and maintain relationships with key marketing partners ensuring value is always delivered.
  • Monitor, measure and manage the achievement of KPI benchmarks.
  • Produce and present reports for the Executive Management team that evaluate effectiveness of our products and tools and make evidence-based recommendations for improvements and optimizations.
  • Own our customer experience from acquisition to engagement to retention, across all formats, including our e-newsletters, web, and in-person events.
  • Grow and optimize our social media presence to support business objectives.
  • Travel for events and meetings, as needed, as a brand ambassador of Shelf Awareness.

A top candidate for this newly created position will bring:

  • A proven track record of growing digital publishing audiences effectively.
  • Successful experience devising and executing our web/e-newsletter strategy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. (We are a publishing company!)
  • Knowledge and experience in publisher marketing and the publishing industry.
  • An action-oriented achiever who is extremely organized and able to meet multiple deadlines.
