The Tiger by John Vaillant won the $40,000 British Columbia National Award for Nonfiction, Canada's richest nonfiction prize, Quill & Quire reported. Vaillant bested a shortlist that included James FitzGerald's What Disturbs Our Blood, Stevie Cameron's On the Farm and Charles Foran's Mordecai. Cameron and Foran are also nominated for the $25,000 Charles Taylor Prize for Nonfiction, which will be announced on February 14.
