Franklin Burroughs, author of Confluence: Merrymeeting Bay (Tilbury House), has won the John Burroughs Medal, which is awarded annually to "a book that combines scientific accuracy, firsthand fieldwork, and
creative natural history writing in the United States." Burroughs accepted the Burroughs Award (the two Burroughs are not related) earlier this month at a ceremony at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City and is shown here with Heather Perry, photographer for Confluence. She is perhaps hoping to win a Perry Award.
