Män som hatar kvinnor (Swedish for "Men Who Hate Women") is an "international sleeper hit," Variety reported, noting that the film, which "has grossed more than $70 million worldwide and been sold to 25 territories, has been picked up in five more countries, including Japan and Germany. . . . A U.S. sale is still pending."
The novel from which the movie was adapted is a bestseller in this country under the title The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, part of Larsson's "Millennium" trilogy. The film's production company, Yellow Bird, which "also produces the TV series Wallander, is in production on the second and third pics in the trilogy, The Girl Who Played With Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest."
