Golfers have been waiting a long time for a film adaptation of Michael Murphy's classic novel Golf in the Kingdom, first published in 1972. The independently made movie, which will be released next summer, premiered last weekend in Los Angeles just before the PGA Tour's Northern Trust Open at Riviera CC, Pacific Palisades, Calif. NBC Sports noted that Golf in the Kingdom "is a global bestseller and has inspired a Shivas Irons Society, an organization dedicated to the values Murphy’s character learns through the book."
