The 246 candidates from 64 countries who have been nominated for the 2019 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award were made public yesterday at the Frankfurt Book Fair. The five million Swedish kronor (about $555,000) award is given annually to authors, illustrators, oral storytellers and reading promoters "to promote interest in children's and young adult literature."
