Shortlists in five categories have been released for the 2020 Macavity Awards, which are nominated by members of Mystery Readers International, subscribers to Mystery Readers Journal, and friends of MRI. The Center for Fiction has announced the longlist for its 2020 First Novel Prize, consisting of 27 titles that can be seen here. Shortlisted titles will be selected in the fall, and a winner celebrated in December.

Co-sponsored by Crook's Corner, the Chapel Hill, N.C., restaurant, the Crook's Corner Book Prize Foundation has announced the longlist for the Crook's Corner Book Prize, recognizing the best debut novel set in the American South. The shortlist will be revealed in September and the winner in January 2021.
