Diesel: A Bookstore in Brentwood, Calif., has created a GoFundMe campaign to raise $35,000 to help Liz Lee, a Diesel bookseller who lost her home in the fires, and to "acquire and donate books to individuals, schools and libraries (public and personal) that were lost in the fire. We are working with a local author who started the LA Wildfire Book Drive to buy, collect and distribute books to those affected by the fire."
The store also suggested that customers donate "a gift certificate that can be used by those who've lost their homes," as well buy books from Diesel online or in person and attend author events: "Support us and a local author at the same time. We have authors scheduled who have lost their homes and now more than ever, want and need to have events to promote their books and go forward with this part of their life if they can. We want to support our authors and all artists and we are hoping to not cancel events or have low attendance."
The store added, "Our hearts continue to be saddened by the devastation we are seeing all around us from the tragic fires in L.A. It has hit our Diesel community hard and we are grieving for our customers, booksellers and our community. Too many have lost homes, been evacuated or have friends and family suffering these losses. We have received an outpouring of support and well wishes and many of you across the country are asking what you can do to help."
