B&N Closing Redwood City, Calif., Store

Barnes & Noble will close its store in Redwood City, Calif., on September 16. Located in Sequoia Station at 1091 El Camino Real, the store had been in operation since 1993. The company attributed the closure to the termination of the store's lease, with CEO James Daunt remarking upon the "suddenness with which we are obliged to close."

B&N noted that it has three other locations in the area, and the company will open new stores in Cupertino and Fremont this fall. It will also explore opportunities for returning to the Redwood City area in the future.
