The Inked Page will open this Saturday, August 22, in Overland Park, Kan., the Kansas City Star reported. The bookstore focuses on mystery/thriller, true crime, and horror, along with small science fiction and dark romance sections. There is a lounge area in the back of the store that will serve as an after-hours event space, and plans for it include book clubs, craft nights, murder mystery parties, and more.

Located at 7942 Santa Fe Dr., the Inked Page occupies the same space as Ink & Page Book Boutique, which closed in July. When friends Courtney Moffitt and Katie Jones learned in April that Erin Oliva, owner of Ink & Page, would be closing the store, they decided to open a bookstore of their own.
"We wanted to give a small nod to her legacy and all the hard work that she did, so that's why we called it Inked Page," Moffitt told the Kansas City Star. "We did not have, at the beginning of January, a bookstore on my 2026 bingo list, but it happened, and it has been super serendipitous ever since."
Though they have ample experience working in retail, opening a bookstore was a new venture for them. After learning that genre-focused bookstores are having a resurgence, they decided to open a store that reflected their own reading tastes. The owners described the store's decor and vibe as "your favorite weird aunt's attic."
Jones and Moffitt will commemorate the store's opening day with store-branded temporary tattoos for the first 100 customers, tote bags for shoppers who spend more than $100, and other treats and giveaways. They plan to host a grand opening celebration in September that will include pop-up appearances from local vendors.
