An extraordinary group gathered at the Rainbow Room in Rockefeller Center in New York City on November 1 to celebrate the publication of The Women Who Made New York (Seal Press). Many of the women featured in the book were on hand, as well as descendants and representatives of others. Among the women who are a focus of the book: Zora Neale Hurston, Audre Lorde, Fran Lebowitz, Grace Jones and Emily Warren Roebling.
