Amalgam Comics and Coffeehouse in Philadelphia, Pa. (the East Coast's first black female-owned comic book store) hosted the launch of Dr. Sheena C. Howard's Encyclopedia of Black Comics (Fulcrum). The book features more than 100 biographies of black artists, writers and publishers, with a foreword from Dr. Henry Louis Gates, Jr. and an afterword by Christopher Priest.
