Summary:
Abrams Books is seeking a National Account Manager to join our Special Markets team. The National Account Manager will lead the day-to-day management for Special Markets National Accounts including Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, TJ Maxx, Home Goods, Williams-Sonoma, and Pottery Barn.
In this highly visible and critical role, they will be tasked with developing and delivering strategies to grow frontlist and backlist sales across the Special Markets channel. They will be responsible for selling the full catalog of core and client publishers’ titles.
The ideal candidate has their finger on the pulse of the retail world, possesses a passion for books, is a strong communicator and has a proven track record of building excellent working relationships with their account base and internal colleagues.
Responsibilities:
- Maximize sales growth on frontlist and backlist titles published by Abrams and distribution clients
- Identify and develop new business. Grow Abrams’ overall specialty account base by pursuing new business opportunities and adding new accounts within the US
- Build and maintain strong relationships with accounts that foster collaborative partnerships and drive revenue growth
- Prepare and present titles to accounts on a seasonal or as-needed basis
- Provide feedback to sales and publishing teams on sales channel market trends and account initiatives
- Participate in brainstorms with editorial teams to guide list development
- Collaborate with publishers to develop bespoke product offerings for accounts
- Analyze account performance to identify opportunities for growth. Perform sales gap analysis on a regular basis
- Assist with title budget forecasting by providing seasonal estimates for accounts
- Act as a liaison between accounts and Hachette Book Group (Abrams’ distributor)
- Manage customer inquires process and track orders, manage account inventory needs
- Identify process improvement opportunities between Sales and related departments that support channel sales growth
- Assist Executive Director, Special Markets on projects as assigned
Requirements:
- 4+ years of experience in book sales or retail buying
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external partners at all levels of an organization
- Ability to work well under pressure and problem solve
- Must be able to work independently to develop and execute revenue driving strategies
- Candidate must possess excellent time management skills
- Candidate must have a strong attention to detail. An interest in fashion and pop culture trends a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills, with a strong attention to detail and timely follow-up
- Thrives in a collaborative environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, and comfort in learning new applications and proprietary in-house systems
- Must be able to travel to trade shows, account visits, and select author events
The salary for this position is $60,000-$70,000 depending on experience. This position is based out of the NYC office, and must be able to work in the office 3 days per week.
Full-Time: Monday - Friday 9AM - 5PM
