B&N Opening Stores in N.Y., N.J., & Wyo. This Week

Barnes & Noble in Caspar, Wyo.

Barnes & Noble is opening three new stores this week: in Commack, N.Y., on Wednesday, August 5; and in Livingston, N.J., and Caspar, Wyo., today, Friday, August 7.

The store in Commack, N.Y., will span more than 10,000 square feet and will reside in the Veterans Memorial Plaza shopping center at 58 Veterans Memorial Hwy. It replaces a B&N location that closed in the area in 2024. Jen Calonita, author of Isle of Ever (Sourcebooks Young Readers), will cut the ribbon on August 5 and sign copies of her book; Sarah Beth Durst, author of Sea of Charms (Bramble), will also be on hand Wednesday for a signing.

The Livingston store, at 530 W. Mt. Pleasant Ave. in the Livingston Shopping Center, replaces a B&N that closed two weeks ago in the Livingston Mall. The new 25,000-square-foot store includes a B&N Cafe. The store will open to the public at 9 a.m. Friday. There will be an appearance by the costumed character the Cat in the Hat, who will also feature in a special storytime over the weekend.

The new 14,000-square-foot bookstore in Casper, Wyo., is located at 600 Newport Rd., next to Marshall's in the newly constructed Blackmore Marketplace. The store is celebrating its grand opening today with author Craig Johnson cutting the ribbon and signing copies of his newest Longmire novel, The Brothers McKay (Viking).

B&N has opened 10 stores in New York over the last three years and will open another four in the state before the end of the year. The Livingston B&N is the first to open in N.J. in 2026; another will open in Wayne, N.J., in the months ahead. This marks the second B&N to open in Wyoming, joining the store in Frontier Plaza, Cheyenne. The company plans to open 60 stores in 2026.
