Hachette Book Group will handle sales in the U.S. and distribution in the U.S. and Canada for Flame Tree Publishing, effective January 1.
Founded in 1992, Flame Tree, London, England, started as an art book and gift-packaging operation. Since then, Flame Tree has expanded into calendars, luxury stationery, and mythology, folklore and genre book publishing. Flame Tree partnered with Hachette UK Distribution in 2023, and this new arrangement with HBG extends that relationship into North America.
Nick Wells, publisher and founder, Flame Tree, said, "In a rapidly changing world it is vital to protect human-centric values in all forms of imaginative expression and means of production. We've found exactly that with Hachette UK Distribution, and we look forward to building further with HBG. We'd also like to thank Simon & Schuster for their considerate stewardship over the last six years."
David Shelley, CEO of Hachette Book Group and Hachette UK, said, "We're proud to be partnering with Flame Tree to sell and distribute their beautiful range of books, gifts, games and stationery. There's so much potential for their publishing in the U.S. market and we're really looking forward to working with them to help grow their sales further."
Russell Evans, senior v-p of business development, Hachette Book Group, added, "By combining Flame Tree's creative publishing expertise with Hachette Book Group's sales and distribution capabilities, we look forward to expanding their reach in the U.S. market. Also, Flame Tree has consumers who come back again and again, and our task now is to widen that circle."
