A shortlist has been released for the 2026 Atwood Gibson Writers' Trust Prize, which recognizes the "best Canadian novel or short story collection of the year." The winner, who will be named at the Writers' Trust Awards in Toronto on November 10, receives C$70,000 (about US$49,670) and each finalist C$7,500 (US$5,320). This year's finalists are:

The award is named in honor of Writers' Trust co-founders Margaret Atwood and Graeme Gibson, who, with the help of several other writers, started the organization in 1976 to support Canadian literary culture.
