Bureau of General Services--Queer Division, New York City, Manhattan's only queer bookstore, hosted transgender scholars Susan Stryker (l.) and Jack Halberstam to talk about their new books, Stryker's Changing Gender (FSG), and Halberstam's Anarchitecture After Everything (MIT Press). The event drew a sold-out audience of 250 at Church of the Village in Manhattan. Founder and event manager Jules Wernersbach noted that the bookstore was able to fundraise within the community to cover the cost of the venue, so they could keep attendance free and open to the public.
