The Bookmark to Host Grand Opening in Greer, S.C.

The Bookmark in progress.

The Bookmark will host a grand opening celebration on October 10 at 115 School St. in Greer, S.C. The Independent Mail reported that owners Nicole and Avery Noel have both worked remotely since the Covid-19 pandemic, and "noticed the need for more community spaces to bring people together. They discovered a space on School Street in downtown Greer, and their new passion project began."

"We've had so many people stop in to just say, 'hey, we're really excited about this,' and we're really looking forward to bringing a cool space to downtown where there's already so many other cool businesses," Nicole Noel said.

The new store currently is under construction, but Noel said their vision of turning it into a cozy, antique-style bookstore and community space will be complete by the opening. The bookshelves are being painted a deep green; bar seating will be installed along the front of the store and cozy seating placed throughout the space. The shop will also feature a fairy-themed children's section.

Noel added that their "vision is for the store to have a coffee-shop feel, where people can stay and hang out, but surrounded by books. She and her husband both work full-time and dedicate their spare time to transforming the Bookmark into that vision," the Independent Mail wrote.

"We're really excited to be creating a community space here in downtown for people that are just looking for a passion for books and also just a place to hang out," she said. The owners plan to partner with other local businesses, starting with grand opening day, when the parking lot adjacent to the store will be filled with 10 vendors offering book-themed goods, coffee, and more. Noel also plans to host book clubs and community events at the Bookmark.
