Elephant Ear Books, which sells "new books for readers of all ages," reopened last weekend in its new space at 445 S. Harvey St., Suite 19, in Plymouth, Mich. Located just four doors down from the original store, the new shop boasts 50% more retail space and room for hosting small events.
Owner Melissa Schabel, a former librarian, said she is excited to see what the new space offers, adding: "I always joked that the first location was my starter store, and when the new location opened up, I decided the time was right. We had outgrown our original space and customers commented on the tiny size."
Schabel added that Elephant Ear Books, which opened in 2024, serves a vibrant downtown area in a Metro Detroit suburb. With more display opportunities and a new corner location, she "looks forward to more comfortably serving the gracious community of book lovers."
