About Strand Book Store:

The Strand opened in 1927 over on Fourth Avenue in New York City on what was then called “Book Row.” Book Row covered six city blocks and housed forty-eight bookstores. The Strand quickly became a Greenwich Village institution where writers went to converse, sell their books and find a hidden treasure to buy. Today, the Strand is the sole survivor of Book Row’s colorful past. It is one of the largest used bookstores in Manhattan and one of the largest in the country. Working here means helping to continue this long legacy of bookselling and helping to keep a much loved part of New York around for another 100 years.
