Technical Product Manager, Content Systems

Position: Full-Time, Remote

The Position

We are seeking a highly capable and technically-minded Technical Product Manager, Content Systems to take end-to-end ownership of the core platform that powers our audiobook content distribution. Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Ownership: Act as the primary owner for ongoing operational issues within the content system, monitoring for failures or gaps (e.g., missing preorders, ingestion errors) and driving resolution through publisher outreach and internal coordination.
  • Technical Execution: Be hands-on with the system’s technical components to define requirements and directly offload specific configuration and data tasks from the Engineering team.
  • Scalability: Proactively identify system bottlenecks and opportunities for automation to prepare the system for significant scaling.
  • Prioritization: Work with stakeholders to prioritize the backlog of system features and technical requirements, ensuring alignment with company goals.
  • Cross-functional Support: Partner closely with CX and engineering to build tools that reduce operational load.
  • Future Ownership: Potentially expand ownership to other critical internal systems over time, such as publisher reporting and publisher hub, as these systems scale.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a Technical Product Manager, Platform Product Manager, or similar role focused on internal/backend systems.
  • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to learn complex systems and workflows, identify opportunities for optimization or automation, and drive those improvements through clear ticketing, prioritization, and delivery in partnership with Engineering.
  • Proven ability to manage a technical roadmap and prioritize a high-volume backlog
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills with the ability to bridge the gap between engineering teams and non-engineering stakeholders.

Preferred Experience

  • Knowledge of data formats, validation, and transformation (e.g., XML, JSON, ONIX).
  • Technical proficiency with cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS).
  • Familiarity with FTP clients
  • Familiarity with the audiobook formats
  • Experience with SQL or database querying for data analysis and troubleshooting.
