Position Summary:
The Events Host & Marketing Coordinator handles Phoenix Books’ events and marketing activities for both Essex and Burlington, Vermont locations. This position manages events from approval through to completion, handles event logistics and outside contractors, and acts as the main point of contact for everything related to event planning and production. A successful candidate in this role will be personable, professional, creative, skilled at written and verbal communication, highly organized, and able to manage the logistics of multiple events simultaneously. The Events Host is supremely comfortable, even thrives, with a crowd and creates a warm and inviting experience for authors and guests in a professional and enthusiastic manner.
Position Responsibilities:
- Present and host Phoenix Books' large and small events both on and offsite.
- Request and coordinate events with publishing teams and authors.
- Organize all aspects of events including decor, catering, entertainment, transportation, equipment, promotional material etc. within budgetary constraints.
- Host virtual and authorless events.
- Identify staffing needs and collaborate with store managers for efficient execution of events.
- Build brand and event awareness by crafting compelling visual and written content for the store’s newsletters, website, social media, and event marketing platforms.
- Manage brand identity, ensure that all marketing materials and events are aligned with the store’s style guidelines and business objectives.
- Research strategic partner relationships for cross-promotion opportunities with community organizations and businesses.
- Represent Phoenix Books at book industry events in the New England area and beyond.
- Other duties as assigned by ownership, general manager, and marketing manager.
Position Requirements:
- Ability to work evenings and weekends, as needed.
- Ability to travel between stores for events.
- Demonstrated interest in special event planning and execution.
- Physical requirements--exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Must be able to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service oriented manner
- Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying feedback from employees and guests.
- Must be able to multitask and prioritize responsibilities to meet deadlines.
- Must be effective in anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems.
Full-Time Position, Hourly
Reports to: Ownership, GM, Marketing Manager

Schedule:
- Expected to host as many store events as possible with variable hours of the day and evening.
- This position is based out of our home office in Essex, Vermont, though most events are hosted out of our flagship location in Burlington. Office hours are flexible.
