Key Responsibilities

·       Provide thoughtful bookselling and personalized recommendations

·       Manage part-time staff and scheduling

·       Oversee timesheets and coordinate payroll and handle bank deposits

·       Receive inventory and manage returns and maintain inventory accuracy 

·       Support author events and in-store programming

·       Collaborate with schools and community partners

·       Assist with marketing and social media

The Ideal Candidate

·       3–5 years experience as a bookstore manager or experienced bookseller (experience with Book Manager a plus)

·       Strong organizational and leadership skills

·       Comfortable working independently and collaboratively

·       Able to lift 25 lbs and stand for extended periods

·       Available nights and weekends

·       Excited about building something meaningful

·       Author talks and launch events, Book clubs for all ages, Craft nights, game nights, and community gatherings, ticketed special events

Position Details

Full-time | Required nights and weekends

Salary range: $50k to $65 depending on experience

About Book RePort

Book RePort is an independent bookstore and café opening in the heart of Port Washington. Port Washington is a suburb of NYC, just a 45 minute train ride from Manhattan and a block from the station. Created in response to the loss of a beloved local bookstore, we are building more than a retail space - we are creating a gathering place for readers, families, and conversation. We are seeking a full-time Store Manager to help bring this vision to life. The Store Manager will oversee day-to-day operations and serve as a central presence in the store, balancing operational excellence with genuine hospitality. We anticipate opening in May and are looking to find a visionary who will help create this space as we open.
