Position: Part-Time, Hybrid

Celia Bookshop has an immediate opening for a creative, self-directed, detail-oriented lover of books and reading to serve as our first Events Coordinator (part-time)

We are a new independent, general-interest, woman-owned bookstore in the heart of the college town of Swarthmore, PA with a close-knit staff of 12. Since we opened in October 2025, we have become a gathering place in the community where people come together for book clubs, author talks, writing workshops, story hours, parent groups, and more. Now we want to make our events even more professional, inventive, and beautiful.

This hybrid position has flexible hours, approximately 20-25 hours/week. It includes working one bookseller shift each week.

This position would be responsible for overseeing 100-150 events per year. The events coordinator will work closely with the Literary Director, Children’s Director, Schools Coordinator, and Store Owner.

Desired skills and qualifications include:

  • Talent for hosting fun, professional, inventive, and beautiful in-store events
  • A high level of organization, especially when managing calendars and time-sensitive tasks
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage your time
  • Strong collaboration skills
  • Ability to build enthusiasm for bookstore events
  • Fluency in Google Suite 
  • Willingness to learn bookstore-specific software platform (Bookmanager)
  • Availability and willingness to work a mix of days, nights, and weekends

The Events Coordinator compensation is $20/hour and includes a 25% discount on all books.
