Marketing Project Manager

Position: Full-Time, Remote


Purpose of the Position

The Marketing Project Manager executes marketing strategies developed by the Director of
Marketing for assigned publishing lines, including comic books, graphic novels, manga, and
collected editions. This role manages integrated marketing campaigns, seasonal promotions,
events, and digital engagement initiatives to increase brand visibility, readership, retailer
support, and direct-to-consumer growth. Working closely with editorial, publicity, sales, design, creators, licensors, and external partners, the Marketing Project Manager ensures campaigns are delivered on time, meet brand and licensor requirements, and perform effectively across consumer, trade, and publicity channels.

The role also oversees campaign timelines, approvals, asset delivery, reporting, and media
support initiatives. Success in this position requires strong project management, organizational, and communication skills, as well as knowledge of the comics publishing and book trade industries.

Core Responsibilities

  • Execute marketing strategies across assigned publishing lines, including licensed and creator-owned titles.
  • Manage the planning, coordination, and execution of integrated marketing campaigns from concept through launch.
  • Develop and oversee marketing assets, including social media content, email campaigns, retailer materials, advertisements, book trailers, motion graphics, and promotional collateral.
  • Track project timelines, approvals, deliverables, and campaign schedules using internal workflow and project management tools.
  • Partner with publicity, editorial, sales, and creative teams to support media outreach, creator appearances, interviews, reviews, and promotional opportunities.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between creators, licensors, retailers, distributors, and internal stakeholders throughout campaign execution.
  • Coordinate licensor approvals and ensure brand compliance across marketing materials and communications.
  • Execute digital marketing initiatives across social media, websites, email, SMS, and direct-to-consumer channels to increase audience engagement and brand visibility.
  • Monitor campaign performance, audience engagement, and market trends, providing recommendations to optimize future marketing efforts.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of convention appearances, trade shows, retailer events, author signings, webinars, and other promotional activations.
  • Prepare campaign reports and performance summaries to measure effectiveness and support strategic decision-making.
  • Other marketing responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in publishing, marketing, communications, publicity, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of the book publishing industry, comic market, and direct-to-consumer marketing strategies.
  • Experience collaborating with licensors, creators, and branded publishing programs is preferred.
  • Experience managing multi-channel marketing campaigns from planning through execution.
  • Strong project management, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, project management platforms (e.g., Asana), social media scheduling tools, and email marketing software.
  • Familiarity with comic books, graphic novels, manga, or pop culture entertainment.

Compensation and Benefits

Currently available benefits include:

  • Annual compensation for this position is $70,000-$88,000. All salaries and salary ranges posted by Mad Cave Studios may vary depending on experience, skills, location, and like considerations.
